Each year the American Society of Plastic Surgeons publishes a report on the top plastic surgery procedures. They do a thorough breakdown of plastic surgery costs, plastic surgery locations, and provide information on a variety of procedures from Botox to boob jobs.
Amongst the top of the list, year after year, is breast augmentation. In fact, in 2010, in the United States alone, there were almost 300,000 breast augmentation procedures performed. Here are the top five:
- Breast augmentation
- Nose reshaping (also referred to as rhinoplasty)
- Eyelid surgery (also referred to as blepharoplasty)
- Tummy Tuck
While it appears that year after year, the order stays pretty much the same, I predict that we will start seeing some other surgeries creep up in popularity in the next few years. Since the baby boomer generation is starting to retire and focused on enjoying retirement, they are more and more inclined to look their best and live life to the fullest. This trend means that there will likely be an increase in the number of facelifts performed as older women want to look younger, and more refreshed as they travel the world and enjoy their spare time.
Ethnic plastic surgery will also be on the rise, especially Asian plastic surgery. People from China and Taiwan continue to immigrate to North America. They will likely start seeking North American doctors to perform their plastic surgery procedures instead of flying back to Asia to get it done.
Last, if Americans don’t stop eating the way they do, the amount of people opting for liposuction and tummy tucks will likely increase.
